Sketch for Digital Language Timeline

These are some of my sketches for our digital timeline project. Currently, I am thinking of creating the timeline as a sort of maze through the history of language. I often include notes/comments with my sketches to write ideas and process thoughts.

Completed First Header

This is my first completed header. After our class critique today, I decided to pay closer attention to kerning and leading of my hand drawn type. I felt the previous abstracted Grecian urn that I used for the background of my last header did not emulate ancient Greek culture as clearly as it needed. For this edited image, I looked more closely at the detail of Grecian urns. I created an illustration based on details I saw on Grecian urns. I also re-visited the palette of the design, and decided on a color palette that is more cohesive with the theme of my blog.
